Ruhamah Designs Workshop is located in Kolkata, India.
Kolkata has one the largest red light areas in Asia. It is also an entry point for trafficking between Bangladesh and India as it is situated close to the border leading to the exploitation of many young girls and women. With the active involvement of many organisations and NGOs, women are rescued or leave the trade and are in need of a better employment opportunities. Ruhamah has stepped and has been working to help them become financially independent and live a life with dignity.
Over the years ruhamah has employed more than 70+ girls, most of them were part of our Training and employment program conducted in shelter homes.

- Our workshop is located at the outskirts of the city, surrounded by lush trees, peaceful ponds, fresh air, and bright sunlight providing them a place of refuge as they heal.
- Our artisans are in the age group of 18 to 50+.
- They specialize in metal jewelry and aari embroidery. Aari embroidery is a traditional Indian art form named for the needle used to create it
- Metal jewelry are made using peg boards and hand hammered. They are also trained to make other handmade artificial jewelry using wires and beads.
- The metal jewelry product includes earrings, bracelets, necklaces made with semi-precious stones and non-precious metals.
- Aari embroidery work is done, combining it with kalamkari fabric. The products headbands, stud earrings, cuff bracelets, scarves and bags.
